Karbala - The Complete Picture
Author: Dr. M H Datoo | Paperback | 267 pages
Many Muslims and non-Muslims are aware, to various degrees, of the tragedy of Karbala in present-day Iraq. It was in 61 AH (680 AD) when Imam Hussain (as), the second grandson of the Holy Prophet of Islam ﷺ, and his small group of supporters were mercilessly, cruelly, and brutally murdered by the forces of Yazeed, the leader of the Muslims at the time.
There are numerous books written by eminent scholars, historians, and educators on this subject; they are excellent in their objectives and for their target audience. However, the author felt the need for a book that is different in two aspects.
Firstly, to really appreciate and understand the significance of the mission of Imam Hussain (as), his campaign has to be put in context and not looked at in isolation. This can only be achieved by knowing what went on before, during, and after this campaign.
Secondly, in order to attract a wider readership, the book is written in a simple narrative form, giving all the essential details but not in academic language and scholarly format. To this end, the book is purposely written using bullet points, short paragraphs, and plain language to make the reading easy, quick, enjoyable, and interesting.
The book is intended for people of different faiths and of varying age groups who have a passing or particular interest to get the complete picture of the tragedy of Karbala.
